A 1970s seaside crime caper with an all-women crew at its center. When industrial pollution devastates their fishing village, a group of haenyeo (Korea's legendary free-diving women) take up smuggling, outmaneuvering the men who believe they are in control. From Veteran and Escape from Mogadishu director Ryoo Seung-wan, Smugglers trades urban grit for sun-soaked harbors, neon-lit dance halls, and underwater action featuring choreography inspired by synchronized swimming.
